Results of 2007 Bar Examinations

A total of 1,289 bar examinees are now new lawyers after successfully hurdling the 2007 Bar Examinations. This represents a passing average of 22.91%. According to Associate Justice Adlof Azcuna, 2007 Bar Chairman the passing rate would have been an all-time low of 5% had the passing rate not been adjusted from the traditional 75% to 70%. This year's topnotcher is Mercedita L. Ona from the Ateneo De Manila University. Congratulations to all new lawyers!

UPDATE: 2007 Bar Exam Results to be released on March 29, 2008

The inquirer.net is reporting that the results of the 2007 Bar Exams will be released tomorrow March 29, 2008 after lunch. It seems that the Supreme Court is still double checking the names of the examinees with their code numbers to avoid errors. Click here for the article on inquirer.net. Supreme Court upholds Romulo Neri petition on executive privilege.

In a vote of 9-6, the Supreme Court has granted the petition of CHED Chairman Romulo Neri and held that Neri cannot be compelled to answer three questions posed by Senators in the ongoing investigation of the NBN-ZTE deal due to executive privilege. In the same decision, the Supreme Court also ruled that the three Senate committees committed grave abuse of discretion in issuing the contempt order against Neri and thus, the orders for contempt and arrest issued against Neri were nullified.
